Audi Club Lone Star members were invited to Audi dealers across Texas recently for events surrounding the launch of the new 2017 Audi R8 V10. In Houston, Audi Central invited R8 owners to park together on the service drive, making an impressive lineup of cars. The theme for the event was “Fire & Ice” and it was billed as an event to remember. With dueling DJ’s, the main showroom was converted into a dance club atmosphere, featuring two covered cars. Speculation arose in the crowd as to what colors the R8s would be.
Current R8 owners had access to a VIP lounge on a different floor, with a bar providing complimentary vodka tasting, and waiters serving sushi appetizers. The bar was literally made of ice, and the furnishings in the bar were ice sculptures. Even the cocktail glasses were solid ice, freezing your fingers as you enjoyed the delicious vodka cocktails.
When it came time for the reveal, curiosity and excitement was peaking among the hundreds of guests. It was practically impossible get close enough to the cars to get a good look, and some good photos. With the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood premier, displays of premium merchandise, open bar service, and club atmosphere, the event was a resounding success.
